Austin, TX – Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) announced today its endorsement of Representative Jim Landtroop for reelection to the Texas House of Representatives in House District 88. Members of YCT’s Texas Tech chapter will be block walking and phone banking in the coming weeks to inform voters of the conservative choice in District 88.

“Republicans in Texas need more leaders like Representative Jim Landtroop,” said Tony McDonald, YCT Senior Vice Chairman. “He not only talks the talk when he’s on the campaign trail — he legislates like a real conservative when he is in Austin. We were proud to give Representative Landtroop an honorable mention on our ratings of the Texas Legislature and we are proud to endorse him for reelection to the Texas House.”

Rep. Landtroop received a score of 84 in YCT’s ratings of the 82nd Texas Legislature, earning an Honorable Mention award for the session.

“Landtroop was a freshman legislator who followed through on the promises to legislate conservatively that he made to his constituents,” commented Jeff Morris, YCT State Chairman. “Conservative voters in District 88 should reelect this principled conservative.”

In response to the endorsement, Landtroop said, “It is an honor to be endorsed by YCT because they hold legislators to the highest standards in order to ensure that our great state continues to thrive. YCT, which is made up of the future leaders of the conservative movement, has garnered the respect of leaders statewide because of their unwavering commitment to conservative principles. Their involvement in the political process is a refreshing reminder that the next generation stands ready to carry the torch” stated Rep. Landtroop “and I am humbled to have not only their endorsement, but their grassroots help. This organization is one that actually puts action to their conviction evidenced by the fact that they are already making phone calls and block walking on behalf of my campaign.”

Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) has been promoting conservatism at universities across the Lone Star State for over three decades. The state’s most active political youth organization, YCT is composed of hundreds of members and alumni who participate in the full spectrum of politics.
