Young Conservatives of Texas to Protest Socialized Medicine with a "Free Government Health Clinic"

September 21st, 2009

Austin, TX – The Young Conservatives of Texas will be out in full force on Wednesday, September 23rd to show the general public just exactly how healthcare will be run if Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress get their wish. Starting at 10am, YCT-UT will be out on the West Mall of the University of Texas campus running a “Free Government Health Clinic” to display just how poor the quality of healthcare will become if H.B. 3200 is passed.

For conservatives, one of our grandest beliefs is that of personal freedom. More specifically, conservatives accept smaller government as exemplifying the power of the people. There is no right more important or fundamental to the concept of personal liberty than that of a citizen to protect their person or property. The court, with history as its guide, has today affirmed what conservatives have been saying for years: Americans have an individual right and freedom to own guns.

Peter Schweizer Exposes Liberal Hypocrisy: “Do As I Say (Not As I Do)”

AUSTIN, TX - The Young Conservatives of Texas are proud to host acclaimed conservative author Peter Schweizer on the University of Texas campus Wednesday, April 9th, 2008. Mr.Schweizer is a research fellow at the Hoover Institution, having served as a member of the Ultraterrorism Study Group at the U.S. government's Sandia National Laboratory. He is the author of many works ranging from biographies of Ronald Reagan, to studies on economics and business.

Ward Connerly Discusses “Getting Beyond Race”

AUSTIN, TX - The Young Conservatives of Texas will welcome Ward Connerly to UT on February 20, 2008. The founder and chairman of the American Civil Rights Institute will speak on America’s Promise Realized: Getting Beyond Race. The speech will discuss how the left lives in a hyphenated America, with African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Caucasian-Americans, etc… Mr. Connerly is also considered to be the force behind California’s controversial Proposition 209 that outlawed race and gender-based preferences in state hiring and state university admissions, widely known as affirmative action.

YCT to Honor Ronald Reagan, America’s 40th President

AUSTIN, TX - The Young Conservatives of Texas will honor the nation’s 40th President, Ronald Wilson Reagan, by commemorating his birthday. On Wednesday, February 6, from 11-2 p.m., YCT will pass out brochures and have cake on the West Mall of the UT campus.

YCT Panders to Political Correctness with “ACLU Nativity Scene”

AUSTIN, TX - The Young Conservatives of Texas unveil their annual “ACLU Nativity Scene,” a parody of the ACLU’s idea of the holiday season, on December ___. The group aims to raise awareness on secular-progressive efforts to remove Christmas from the public sphere. The second annual display will feature characters that are quite a bit different than the standard crèche.
